The Iraqi Cabinet Secretariat has recently approved a list of additional import taxes aimed at protecting domestic producers:

1. Impose an additional 65% tariff on "epoxy resin and modern dyes" imported from all countries and manufacturers into Iraq for a period of four years without any reduction or exemption, and monitor the local market while imposing additional tariffs.

2. Impose an additional 65% tariff on laundry detergent imported from all countries and manufacturers to Iraq for washing colored, black, and dark clothes, for a period of four years without reduction or exemption, and monitor the local market during this period.

3. An additional 65% tariff will be imposed on floor and clothing fresheners, fabric softeners, liquids and gel imported into Iraq from all countries and manufacturers for a period of four years without relief, and the local market will be monitored during this period.

4. Impose an additional 65% tariff on floor cleaners and detergents imported from all countries and manufacturers to Iraq for a period of four years without any reduction or exemption, and monitor the local market during this period.

5. A 100% additional tariff will be imposed on cigarettes imported from all countries and manufacturers into Iraq for a period of four years without any exemptions, and the local market will be monitored during this period.

6. 100% additional tariffs will be imposed on corrugated cardboard or ordinary cardboard imported from all countries and manufacturers into Iraq in the form of boxes, plates, printed or unprinted partitions, for a period of four years, without reduction or exemption, and monitoring the local market.

7. Impose an additional 200% tariff on alcoholic beverages imported from all countries and manufacturers into Iraq for a period of four years without any reduction or exemption, and monitor the local market during this period.

8. Impose an additional 20% tariff on PPR&PPRC of plastic pipes and their accessories imported from all countries and manufacturers into Iraq for a period of four years without any reduction or exemption, and monitor the local market.

This decision shall come into effect 120 days from the date of its promulgation.

The Cabinet Secretariat separately mentioned the imposition of an additional 15% tariff on galvanized and non galvanized metal pipes imported from all countries and manufacturers into Iraq, for a period of four years without reduction or exemption, and monitoring the local market.
